Expertise

Coleen Walsh, MFA, MNT is a Functional Nutritionist, a Master Nutrition Therapist and Recipient of the 2014 Impact Award from the NANP (National Association of Nutrition Professionals)!

Coleen B&WDubbed the “methyl queen” by colleagues, Coleen’s specialty is genetic SNPs (mutations) in the Methylation cycle, including MTHFR (methylene tetra hydro folate reductase enzyme), and the conditions that surround them.

As the owner of Harvesting Nutrition, a holistically-based nutrition company, Coleen maintains an active private practice in Denver, CO where she gives one on one client consultations incorporating genetics with nutrition and lifestyle practices.  She teaches health and nutrition classes throughout the country including: Colorado School of Tradition Chinese Medicine, Whole Foods Market, Hospitals, Corporate businesses, non-profit organizations, among others.  Coleen is honored to be the recipient of the 2014 NANP Impact Award (National Association of Nutrition Professionals) for her research & training programs on the  Biochemical Pathways of MTHFR and Methylation.

With a passion to teach, Coleen began her career as a professional dancer, choreographer and professor.  Upon suffering a brain injury (from a car accident) with the ensuing: depression, chronic pain, Autoimmune disease(s), and a slew of degenerative conditions, holistic nutrition helped her turn her health around.  Through this journey, Coleen found out she had the MTHFR genetic mutation, this information was instrumental in her recovery.  At the time, little was known about MTHFR, so she took matters in her own hands, went back to school to study nutrition, and found Dr. Ben Lynch and other pioneers in the field.  She began to help heal herself while delving into diet and lifestyle practices along with nutritional supplementation support for Methylation.

Coleen has studied Methylation extensively, not only through Dr. Lynch, but also through Dr. Amy Yasko and many others as well as conducting her own doing research (please find list below).  Self titled, “seminar junkie”, she keeps updated on the latest health and nutrition research by attending numerous medical seminars and conferences.  She feels education is one addiction that needs no intervention.

She attended The Nutrition Therapy Institute (NTI)* in Denver, CO, has her FirstLine Therapy® Certification for Cardio-Metabolic Syndrome through Metagenics and Functional Medicine & Lab Interpretation Certificate through Nutri West with Dr. Brandon Lundell.

She teaches and consults with MDs, NDs, L.Acs, DOs, Nutritionists and the general public throughout the world on the basics of MTHFR & Methylation. Coleen offers online trainings for both the Practitioner and the general public or “everyday mutant” on the Understanding MTHFR and Methylation.  She is working on her book titled “Thriving with MTHFR: A guide for the everyday mutant!” for the general public.

Coleen is ready to help you discover the root of your health issues, give adjudicative support, educate and guide you on your road back to health.  She brings her passion and dedication to each client while supporting them with empathy and understanding.
